Healing Through Touch: a unique service specializing in holistic & alternative services for the senior population. As the senior population grows and people live longer, the search is on for ways to cope with the many issues associated with aging.

With a new integrative and holistic approach, health is now interpreted by many practitioners as increasing levels of awareness and well being. This is definitely a concept that will affect millions and is here to stay. With the changes in the traditional health care systems, the need for knowledge and exploration of the many different holistic healing techniques and practices is now available in our innovative model of holistic medical care.

Our experienced therapists and holistic practitioners use an eclectic approach and combine different forms of therapeutic massage and mind/body therapy. Our therapists are licensed and insured and have worked in hospitals, oncology units, independent & assisted living residences, hospice facilities, and nursing homes. Our mission is the harmonious evolution of the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects of our beings.

As a part of this model, Healing Through Touch has developed a group of practitioners to meet the needs of the senior community. Our group of experienced and licensed professionals dedicate their practice to educating and servicing seniors. Amongst this group are:

  • certified aromatherapists (specializing in essential oils)
  • certified hypnotherapists (specializing in pain management & relaxation techniques)
  • bio-energetic cellular testing (for diagnosis and treatment)
  • variety of massage treatments (including Swedish, deep tissue & craniosacral)
  • Reiki and Healing Touch Practitioners (spiritual & energy work)

  • Ear Candling (a remedy worth ‘hearing’ about)
  • Gong Meditation (vibrational healing & awareness)
  • Acupuncture (pain-headaches, back-sciatica), arthritis, weight loss.

The importance of touch has many applications and variations. It is a component that is missing from, yet very necessary for, many therapeutic programs. Since it is used for health promotion as well as for its curative aspect, it can truthfully be said that the use of hands-on therapy to soothe aches and pains and facilitate the body’s own healing powers is a fundamental component that is here to stay. Beyond simply receiving a chemical or technological intervention when we are ill, we seem to need a personal touch, a caring advocate, and a belief that we can be restored to health. This sense of hope and purpose seems to improve our sense of well being. The need for touch is especially important among the elderly who are often isolated due to physical impairment or end of life circumstances. Many feel isolated or even depressed. Deprivation of touch may result in feelings of worthlessness and lead to depression. The physiological and psychological effects associated with touch are a very valuable component for the elderly and especially beneficial for hospice and palliative care recipients.
